Most parts that are difficult or expensive to forge became that way at the drawing stage. These are the rules our die designers apply, shared so your design arrives forgeable rather than needing revision after quotation.

Draft Angles
The part must release from the die. External surfaces need 3–7° draft, internal surfaces 5–10° because they grip as the part shrinks. Zero-draft surfaces are possible only with ejector tooling, at extra cost.

Fillets and Radii
Sharp internal corners stop metal flow, cause laps and crack dies. Minimum fillet radius is roughly 3 mm, and larger is better — generous radii improve die life and part strength simultaneously.
Parting Line and Ribs
Place the parting line on the largest cross-section, ideally on a flat plane, and away from highly stressed fillets. Ribs should be no thinner than 5 mm with height under six times thickness, or they will not fill reliably.
