Food & Dairy Equipment Forging

Food and dairy equipment must be cleanable, corrosion-free and free of any crevice where product can lodge. Forged stainless components deliver dense, non-porous material that polishes to a hygienic finish.

01

Cleanability Is a Design Requirement

Porosity, crevices and rough surfaces all harbour product residue and bacteria. Forged stainless has no porosity, and radii are designed generously so that clean-in-place systems actually reach every surface.

  • No porosity to harbour residue
  • Polishable to hygienic finish
  • Generous radii for CIP cleaning
  • Segregated stainless handling
02

Surface Finish Standards

Food contact surfaces are polished to specified Ra values, typically 0.8 µm or better, and passivated to restore the chromium oxide layer after machining.

FAQ

Questions Answered

Which grade for dairy equipment?

+

SS 304 for most dairy service; SS 316 where cleaning chemicals contain chlorides or where product is saline or acidic.

Can you polish food contact surfaces?

+

Yes, to Ra 0.8 µm or better, followed by passivation.

How is contamination prevented?

+

Stainless is processed on segregated tooling and stored separately, so no carbon steel transfer can occur.

Do you supply sanitary fittings?

+

Yes, forged sanitary unions, fittings and valve components to drawing.
